2020

• The work titled "Intelligent Channel Utilization Discovery in Drone to Drone Networks for Smart Cities" published by our Computer Engineering undergraduate student Muhammed Raşit Erol with his advisor Assoc. Dr. Berk Canberk was awarded the Best Paper Awardat EAI INISCOM 2020. 

• The study titled "A multilevel mapping based pedestrian model for social robot navigation tasks in unknown human environments" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hatice Köse and Hasan Kıvrak (Ph.D. candidate) has been granted the Best Paper AwardINISTA 2020. 

• Prof. Dr. Zehra Çataltepe was awarded the Successful Woman Entrepreneur of the Yearin the Women Leaders of Technology competition organized by Microsoft Turkey.

• Prof. Dr. Hazım K. Ekenel's study titled "A Comprehensive Analysis of Deep Learning Based Representation for Face Recognition"published in 2016 has won theIEEE Computer Society Biometrics Workshop Highest Impact Award in CVPR2020.

• The Natural Language Processing (NLP) Research Group leaded by Assoc. Dr. Gülşen Cebiroğlu Eryiğit was selected as the laboratory of January 2020 by the enetCollect .

2019

• Prof. Dr. Hazım K. Ekenel  was awarded the 2019 IEEE Turkey Research Incentive Award.

• Computer Engineering PhD. graduate Müge Erel-Özçevik's thesis titled "Traffic and Mobility Aware Delay Modeling for Software-Defined Networks (SDN)" developed under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berk Canberk, entered the İTÜ 2019 Most Successful PhD. Thesis list.

• Assoc. Dr. Hazim K. Ekenel's work titled "Strengths and weaknesses of deep learning models for facial recognition against image distortions" in collaboration with the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and ENSEA (France) has been awarded with 2019 Premium Award for Best Paper in IET Biometrics.

• Prof. Dr. Zehra Çataltepe received the International Women's Entrepreneurial Challenge Foundation (IWEC)

• Assoc. Dr. Berk Canberk has been awarded with Informatics Association of Turkey, Computer Engineering Academic Teaching Prize.

• Dr. Islem Rekik won the second prize in MICCAI Educational Challenge with her two educational videos"How to structure and write a research paper?" and "Case study: research paper deconstruction”

• Elif Ak and Gamze Akyol, graduate students of Faculty of Computer and Informatics Engineering, have won the first placein theACM womENcourage Hackathon in the category of "Artificial Intelligence and Welfare" with the project entitled "Personal Assistant Chatbot for Employees (PACE)".

• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazim K. Ekenel's work titled "Personalized Training in Fast-Food Restaurants Using Augmented Reality Glasses" has granted theBest Paper AwardatISET 2019.

• The project titled "Obtaining MR Angiography Images Using T1 and T2 Contrast-Enhanced MR Images" developed by Computer Engineering  undergraduate student Şahin Olut under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Gözde Ünal won the first place in Istanbul region in the field of health in the TÜBİTAK (2242) University Students Research Projects Competition.

• Computer Engineering PhD. student Elham Biyar and Assoc. Dr. Berk Canberk has wonBest Student Paper Awardwith their paper titled "Flow-Based Network Tomography Agent for Software Defined Data Center" atSigTelCom 2019.

• Game and Interaction Technologies Master Program student Ece Naz Sefercioğlu won the second placein theIdea CategoryofKod Awards Educational Games Competition organized by Turkish Informatics Foundation.

• Computer Engineering Master Program student Sefa Eren Şahin and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Tosun's work titled "Predicting Popularity of Open Source Projects Using Recurrent Neural Networks" was awarded theBest Paper AwardatOSS 2019.
